Bill Vann, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025 at the age of 74. A man of deep faith and boundless joy, he lived his life with a heart full of love and a soul filled with laughter.
Born on April 10,1950 in Sumter, SC he spent most of his life in Knoxville, TN. Bill found his greatest passions in faith, family, and fellowship. He could often be found on the golf course, perfecting his swing and sharing funny stories with friends. His love for shag dancing was unmatched—graceful on his feet and always ready for one more dance. He cherished his Monday mornings at the ODPC Men’s Prayer Breakfast, where he found strength in his faith and brotherhood with those who shared it.
Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather always leading with kindness, wisdom, and an infectious smile. He never met a stranger, and his warmth left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Vann, three daughters, Cindy Elder, Christy Jones, Candace Marshall, step-children Jayna Phelps and Brandon Thomas, and several grandchildren who will forever treasure his love and the lessons he imparted. He is preceded in death by his parents Leevie and Bena Lee Vann, brother Jackie Earl Vann, and two sisters, Betty Joyce Shelton and Tresia Ann Davis.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Thursday, February 20,2025 at 2:00 pm at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church with a reception following in the Lyerly Family Life Center at ODPC. A second celebration of life will be held in Knoxville, TN Thursday, February 27,2025 at 6:30 pm at Buffat Heights Baptist Church, 2800 Mill Rd, Knoxville, TN 37924 with visitation to follow.
