Through every challenge life presented, she met it with resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her life was defined by love, generosity, hard work, and strong connections she built with those around her.
After marrying her beloved husband, Gerardo, Angela was blessed with two sons, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. Angela passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, at the age of 91, just two weeks after the passing of her husband of nearly seven decades. Their love story was one for the ages, but in the end, it seemed their hearts simply could not bear to be apart.
Angela was born on May 17, 1935, in Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, Italy, to her loving parents, Giuseppe and Brigida Antoniello. She married Gerardo in 1957, and together they immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better future. They began their life together in Orange, New Jersey, later moved to Livingston, where they raised their family, and eventually settled in East Hanover, where they spent many happy years together.
In her early years in America, Angela worked as a seamstress for almost 30 years. Her talent with a needle and thread never left her, and she became an avid crocheter, creating countless handmade blankets for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends. Angela remained active well into her 80s, enjoyed going for walks and working as a crossing guard, greeting families and students every day to and from school.
Angela loved traveling back to Italy with Gerardo. Together, they often brought their grandchildren to visit the family farm, where they shared stories, traditions, and a deep appreciation for their heritage. She wanted future generations to know where they came from and to remain connected to their culture and family that shaped them. Angela also loved family vacations, especially trips to the Jersey Shore, where she delighted in simple pleasures like ice cream cones, boardwalk popcorn, and time spent with those she loved most. The Antoniellos were the only family on the beach eating eggplant and mozzarella sandwiches.
Angela truly was a jack-of-all-trades. Whether attending church, a family barbecue, or a special celebration, she was always impeccably dressed and never without her cherished jewelry collection, including many treasured pieces she bought during her trips to Italy. She was a gifted cook whose Italian meals brought family and friends together around the table. No one ever left her home hungry. Her kitchen was filled with love, laughter, and the aromas of homemade recipes passed down through generations, including pizzagaina, cavatelli, struffoli, stuffed peppers, tomato salads, and many more of which she proudly taught to her daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
Known for her honesty and straightforward nature, Angela always spoke her mind, but her words were rooted in love. She never missed an opportunity to support and encourage her family. Whether celebrating graduations, birthdays, weddings, or life's everyday accomplishments, Angela was always there. Her door was always open, where you’d find any number of her and Gerardo’s neighbors sitting at the table talking and playing cards. She was happiest surrounded by family, sharing stories, laughter, and delicious food.
Angela was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerardo Antoniello. She is survived by her two sons, Salvatore Antoniello and his wife, Pamela, and Gerardo (Jerry) Antoniello II and his wife, Lisa; her six grandchildren, Maria Antoniello Astor and her husband, Tyler; Gina Antoniello Bowden and her husband, Andrew; Nina Jantzen and her husband, Matthew; Angela Mammana and her husband, Salvatore; Gabrielle Mahady and her husband, Cory; and Gerardo Antoniello III. She is also survived by her seven treasured great-grandchildren: Galliano, Lucas, Maria (Mia), Lawrence, Nico, Giada, and Avellina.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, New Jersey.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Philomena Roman Catholic Church, 386 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston, New Jersey. A committal service will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society in memory of Angela and her late husband, Gerardo Antoniello.
