

Anna was born in Newark, NJ in the aftermath of the Great Depression to the late Frank and Rita (nee Summa) Valvano. She was married for 61 years to the late Honorable James (Jimmy) Zangari Sr., a long-time member of the New Jersey General Assembly and former Essex County Freeholder. Together they raised their four children, Peter, James, Francesca and Ted, in the West Ward of Irvington.
In their retirement years, Anna and Jimmy spent a great deal of time at their home in Boca Raton, Florida, hosting and entertaining visiting family and friends from New Jersey. Anna was a fabulous cook, an avid reader of all genre of literature, and had a voracious appetite for the news of the day right up until her passing. After the passing of her beloved husband, she spent the last 13 years residing in the home of her daughter Francesca and son-in-law Luke in East Hanover, NJ.
Anna was also predeceased by two of her children, Peter and James. She is survived by her other two children, Francesca Hosonitz and her husband Luke, and Ted Zangari and his wife Michelle, as well as daughters-in-law Susan and June, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was also the loving sister to Frances Martino as well as the late Madeline Battaglia, Catherine Savastano, and Salvatore Valvano.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join Anna's immediate family at The Mass of Christian Burial, which will be offered at St. Vincent's Martyr Catholic Church, 26 Green Village Road in Madison on Tuesday, March 12th at 11:00 AM with entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum, East Hanover.
Visitation will be private.
