Carlos Alvarez

Carlos Alvarez, 75, passed away at his home, on Saturday, September 6, 2026. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador as one of seven children to the late Hector and Rosa Alvarez. He and his family moved to the USA when he was a teenager, and Carlos later attended SUNY Albany, where he met the love of his life, Ivette. They graduated together in 1976, and Carlos started his insurance and travel agency in New York City. The two married in 1979, and Carlos, Ivette, and Ivette’s son Ricky were joined by their son, Charlie, in 1980, to complete their family. They moved to Livingston in 1981 and have resided there since.

Carlos was an avid soccer fan, and loved to travel, having visited countless countries all over the world. He liked to cook and was best known for his ceviche and hot sauce. Above all else, Carlos loved spending time with his cherished family.

Carlos is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ivette; his children Charles Alvarez (Jenna) and Rick Hackett; and his cherished grandchildren, Rick Tyler Garcia, Apollo Alvarez, Asher Alvarez, Aiden Alvarez, and Aria Alvarez; as well as many extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12 from 12pm-5pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston, NJ.
