Charles Morchian, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at his home, with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Newark, Charles spent most of his life in Verona, before retiring to Woodland Park, NJ.
In 1976, he and his wife Ruby established American Royal Hardware in Watchung Plaza in Upper Montclair, now owned and operated by his son Roy. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was an active member of St. Mary Armenian Church, where he spent 18 years on the Parish Council as Chairman, Treasurer, and Advisor. Charles was honored to be a member of the Free Masons.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ruby. He is also survived by his loving children Laura and her husband Michael Schillizzi, Roy and his wife Kathleen, and Brenda and her husband John S. Kosko III. Charles is also survived by his grandchildren Craig (Danielle), Matthew, Johnny, Stephen, Julia, and Brendan, and his great-grandson, Cody, as well as his sister Alice Prag, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 14 from 3:30 PM-8 PM at St. Mary Armenian Church, 200 W. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 15 at 11AM at St. Mary Armenian Church, with interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles’ name may be made to St. Mary Armenian Church Endowment Fund.
