Edward Walter Turon

Edward was born in Elizabeth, NJ on April 6, 1947 and grew up in the Frog Hollow Section surrounded by his hardworking family and cherished life long friends from the neighborhood - meeting his oldest friend at 3 year’s old. He loved and greatly looked forward to annual Frog Hollow Reunions with the guys at the Jersey Shore. One of his greatest joys in life was playing basketball with his pals at Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, NJ and St. Mary’s University in Canada, receiving a full scholarship to play basketball in college. And boy did he have a mean left handed lay up - just ask Surf he’ll tell ya. Nicknames were mainstay among Ed and his friends and he was referred to as Ace or Coach by many. When he walked into the room everyone knew it and he loved talking, cracking jokes and laughing with family, friends and strangers alike. Roulette, bingo and poker were a few of his games of choice, having an affinity for scratch off lottery tickets. Black licorice, cashews, pistachios and Cape Cod potato chips were always on his short list. After college Ed held jobs in finance at General Motors and Toyota Lexus Financial Services, retiring at 58 from the latter. In his retirement Ed traveled everywhere he could with his beloved late wife of 31 years, Kathleen Turon.

Edward was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Czeslawa (Jessie) Turon, daughter Danielle Turon, big brother William Turon and brother-in-law, Theodore Gorczyca. He is survived by his daughter Nicole Turon-Diaz, son-in-law Christopher Diaz, daughter Brooke Williams, son-in-law Ray Williams, son Justin Turon, treasured granddaughters Lillian Diaz and Maya Williams, siblings Josephine Gorczyca, Stanley Turon and his wife Carol, sister-in-law Jolanta Turon and their sons. Also left behind are step-children Ryan Gloss (Laura), Scott Gloss (Dawn) and step-grandchildren Brittany and Caden Gloss.

Sincere gratitude, appreciation and love are extended to everyone at Brighton Gardens of Florham Park, NJ who comforted, supported and became extended family to Ed in his final years, especially Gail Lombardi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, NJ with services officiated by Ed’s long time friend and college basketball buddy, Reverend Alfred E. Brown, Jr. Entombment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, NJ.
