

Ethel M. Sheehan, 93 entered eternal rest on April 16th, 2020. Born in Jersey City and was the oldest of three daughters of Leo A. and Marie J. Marshall. She lived in Irvington before moving to Livingston, which was her home for 55 years before moving to Brighton Gardens, Florham Park and then to Green Hill, West Orange. Her summer home at Lake Lenape was one of her greatest joys. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis X. Sheehan, Sr. and Sisters Joan Snyder and Noreen Coutin.
Ethel graduated from Mt. St. Dominic Academy, received a BS from Fairfield University, an MA degree from Seton Hall University and numerous additional Certifications, retiring after 44 years as a Public-School Teacher. She began her career in Ridgefield Park before moving on to Newark and then to Hanover Township, where she spent 30 years and was instrumental in designing, developing, and improving reading and disabilities education programs.
After retirement, her love of service and desire to share her teaching skills led to substitute teaching in the Livingston Schools as well as, volunteer work with the Sussex County ARC of NJ programs.
She was a member of St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church, Livingston, Our Lady of the Lake, Sparta, and Church of the Good Shepard, Andover, as well as, a past Director of the Bereavement Support Group of St Philomena’s, a member of the Rosary Society and Third Order of St. Dominic. Ethel greatly enjoyed participating in other community groups, International Travel and helping her Grandchildren.
Ethel is survived by her Daughter Kathleen Morrison (Martin), Sons Kevin (Kathy Miller) and Francis X. Jr. (Luanne), Grandchildren James, Jean, Frank, and Nick and Great Grandchildren Simon and Ian.
A Memorial Mass will be planned in the future.
