Helena M. Kominek, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Senior Home, Woodbridge, NJ. Born in Zbaraz, Poland, Helena was raised on a farm and loved gardening and planting. She immigrated to the USA in 1975 after taking care of her mother, aunt, and older sister, until their passing. Helena resided in Irvington, NJ for 44 years. She worked as a factory worker for Standard Optical in Livingston and in building maintenance on Wall Street, NYC for many years. She loved reading, cooking, baking, and entertaining her friends. She was always ready to give advice and help people.
Helena is survived by her niece Veronica Bonder and her husband John of Livingston and nephew Antoni Gladki and his wife Maria in Poland; as well as two grandnieces and a grandnephew, and many great-grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15 from 4-8 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston. Funeral mass will be offered on Saturday, March 16 at 10AM at St. Philomena Church, Livingston. Interment will follow at The Shrine Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helena’s name may be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 537 Gove Street, Irvington, NJ.
