James F. Molloy

James F. Molloy, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at the Inglemoor Rehabilitation and Care Center in Livingston, NJ, surrounded by family members. He was born on October 21, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, to James F. and Mary (Kennington) Molloy, and attended Brooklyn Tech High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1948, served in the Korean War with the 1st Marine Division, and was awarded the Bronze Star for action at the Chosin Reservoir campaign in November of 1950. On May 9, 1953, he married Dorothy Jean Russell. Together they had four sons and resided in Livingston, NJ. Jim worked for more than 35 years for the Public Service Electric and Gas Company, ultimately as a senior construction supervisor. His special interests and hobbies included raising his four boys, fresh water fishing, cooking, and 4 pm (sharp) martinis. He also was an avid baseball fan (Brooklyn Dodgers and NY Yankees).

He was preceded in death by ‘Dotty’, his beloved wife of 58 years, and is survived by his brother John (Kathy) Molloy and sons Chris (Laureen MacEachern), Russ (Cathleen Shea), Rick (Wendy Chivian), and Ron (Patty); 11 grandchildren: Meaghan, Anne, Kristen (Sean Coit), Caroline (Bryan) Dau, Kelly, Danny, Matthew, Katie (Alex) Whiteman, Sean (Caroline), Colin, and Emma and three great-grandchildren: Ella and Declan Whiteman and Jack Dau.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, NJ on Friday, December 6 from 4 pm to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philomena’s Church, 386 South Livingston Ave, Livingston, NJ, on Saturday, December 7 at 10 am, followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa, NJ.
