Johnny, Cuz...my son John, you and I share the first name of our Grandad, and a few months ago all 3 of us were at a poker game together...."Too many John Michaels' at this table" the others said. Generations were together there ...for a time that I believed would be one of many.
You and I had a special relationship, that had respect, love, and understanding of each others lives. Whether it was at a poker game, sequestered together on our fishing trips, or just a few words shared when we saw each other. All memorable for me.
John, I know you will be watching over your children, grandchildren, your mom and your brothers, keep them safe and healthy.
You have left us too early cuz, and I will miss you for all of my days.
RIP Johnny

Thirty one years ago this man came into my life and saved me.
My memories are too many to count yet each one stored in my heart forever.
The one memory that to this day makes me laugh out loud was our first holiday together. It was Thanksgiving, I had extended family that had just recently arrived from Cuba and it was their first time hosting Thanksgiving dinner so I was obligated to attend. When we arrived there was a Christmas tree that was overly decorated with Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween ornaments and there were Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween ornaments all over the home. WAIT!! There's more, there was a birthday cake that read Happy Birthday Thanksgiving- written in red and green. Needless to say I was mortified, I didn't think I would ever hear from John again after that night.... but he was a trooper!! Then the night got better, poor John asked me to tell him how to say Merry Christmas in Spanish, he obviously did not know me very well at that point or he would have known better than to ask me!! I won't repeat what I told him BUT I ended up receiving a few smacks upside my head from my mom and my Aunt that night. LOL
Twenty plus years and three children later things didn't go as planned but I'm blessed that through it all and the years that followed we always loved each other and most of all we were there for each other.
John was a "one of a kind" man with a heart bigger than most. He will forever be in my heart and in my thoughts.

Love you always John -
~Me~

My condolences to the entire Michaels family. John was a good high school friend of mine most of his brothers as well. I will always remember the laughter we all shared over card games, huge meals or on road trips. Bogey will surely be missed but never forgotten. Rest In Peace.
