Joseph J. Aji, age 91, of Livingston, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday July 11, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Philomena’s Church 386 South Livingston Avenue Livingston, NJ, on Saturday July 14, 2012 at 10 AM. A committal will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum East Hanover, NJ. The family will receive their friends at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue Livingston, NJ; on Friday July 13, 2012 from 4-8PM. Joseph was born in Camini, Italy to the late Peter and Maria Catalano Aji. After high school he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp, before serving his country proudly as a radio operator in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Aji was a HVAC Consultant with St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, before his retirement in 1995 after 30 years with the hospital. A devout catholic he served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Philomena’s Church and St. Barnabas Medical Center both of Livingston. Joseph was a loving and gentle man, his infectious smile and great sense of humor will be remembered always by his family and friends. Beloved husband of the late Clementina Iatesta Aji, devoted father of Marie and her husband John Rake, Annette and her husband Michael Kersey, Michelle and her husband Don LaFerriere, John and his wife Kathy Aji, daughter-in-law Janet Aji and the late Joseph P. Aji, dear brother of Adrian Matteo, loving grandfather of Christine, John, Noelle and her husband Joe, George, Michele, Tina, Jason, Alexandra, Scott, Stephanie, John and Brian, and cherished great-grandfather of Lexia Clementina and Adalyn Josephine.
