
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Born on August 21st, 1938, in Bayonne, New Jersey, Lawrence was the beloved son of Stephanie and Sam Biel. He was a proud graduate of Bayonne High School, going on to earn his degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado and Farleigh Dickinson University. Lawrence then pursued his CPA establishing a successful 40-year career culminating as a senior partner at Smolin, Lupin & Company. His expertise extended beyond accounting; Lawrence was also a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Valuation Analyst, and an Arbitrator.
A proud veteran, Lawrence served in the U.S. Army post Korean War from 1958 to 1960. After his service, he focused on building his career and raising a family. As well, he was a 30-year member of the Essex County Country Club, where his love for golf brought him countless hours of joy.
Known for his sharp wit and great sense of humor, Lawrence had a special ability to make people laugh with his funny words and detailed stories. He was a one-of-a-kind person, loved by all who knew him, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Stephanie and Sam Biel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol Biel; his daughters, Lisa (Nick) and Cheryl (Pete); his grandchildren, Luca, Jordy (Mitch), Jason, Brian, Nikki, and Carly; and his sisters Barbara (Zip) and Nancy (Donald).
Lawrence's legacy of love, laughter, and strength will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
