Adamski, Lee V. (Grasso), wife of the late Joseph Adamski of Livingston, New Jersey passed away at home October 12. She was born Pasqualina Veronica Grasso on January 17, 1925 to Nicola and Rose (Lardieri) Grasso of Newark New Jersey. In addition to her husband Joseph, was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: Joseph, Marie, Carmen, Julia, Victor, and Armando.
She is survived by her daughters Beverly and her husband Anthony Nardiello of West Orange, New Jersey and Debra and her husband James O’Neill of Midlothian, Virginia; five grandchildren, Nicole Munoz (Albert), Dr. Megan O’Neill, Lisa Nanartowicz (Joseph), Matthew O’Neill (Sydney), and Anthony Nardiello III (Nicole); and six great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and dear friends.
Lee graduated from Central High School in Newark, NJ and began her secretarial career with the law firm Fernicola & LaMorte. She married her childhood sweetheart, WWII Purple Heart recipient Joe Adamski, and settled in East Orange, NJ. In 1959, Lee accompanied Nicolas T Fernicola, Esq. to the Essex County Counsel’s office as his executive secretary and remained as Executive Secretary to four additional Essex County Counsels, retiring in1986. In this role, she was awarded Legal Secretary of the Year by the Essex County Secretarial Association in 1981. Additionally, Lee served as secretary to the Essex County Credit Union for many years.
Throughout her life, was Lee was a leader in her community, serving as a first female PTO president at both Columbian Elementary School and Clifford J.Scott High School both in East Orange, New Jersey. She was an active member of the Essex County Democratic Committee serving as an Electee in East Orange and remained active after moving to Livingston in 1971.
In Livingston, Lee was active in the following organizations: “The Livingtones” town chorus, Friends of the Opera, VFW Post 2856 and Ladies Auxiliary, The American Legion Post 201 and Ladies Auxiliary, Oak Leaf Senior Women’s Club, Livingston AARP, Livingston UNICO, Livingston Elks and Does, St. Philomena Church, and enjoyed pinochle, bowling and Bocce through the Livingston Senior Center.
Lee was devoted to her family. She was mentor and confidant to her large extended family and willingly and gracefully shared her wisdom, generosity, kindness and knowledge. Lee’s children, grandchildren great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews, co-workers and neighbors will loving remember the “Little Dynamo.”
To live in the hearts we leave behind, is to never die. May Lee rest in peace knowing that her time in this world made tremendous impact on all who were privileged to know and love her. Nonni will always be in our hearts. God bless you dear one and keep you close. As you said to us, we say to you “Love you beyond infinity”.
