Madeline Wettengel

Madeline P. Wettengel, known to all as “Pat”, 92, died on September 15, 2015 in Toms River, N. J. The funeral mass will be Saturday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell, N. J. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N. J. Visitation is Friday, September 18 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Quinn- Hopping Funeral Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston.

Born and raised in West Orange to William and Margaret (Behar) Lee, she lived there most of her life before residing in Toms River and East Hanover. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Hugo; sisters Mary (Magyar), Gertrude Lee, and Joan (Rooksby): brother, William Lee, Jr. She is survived by sister, Elizabeth Anne (Coughlin). She is also survived by nineteen nephews and nieces. She was a wonderful mother to sons, John, Donald (Sharon), Mark (Caroline), Paul (Mary) and daughter, Patricia Smith (Duane). She was a wonderful grandmother to Robert, Mark Jr., Sean, Krista, Melissa, Colin, Ryan, Erin, Megan, Paul, Mallory, Matthew, Shannon and Patrick.

She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Valley (Class of 1941). She worked for the FBI (Newark) office and for the New Jersey Unemployment office. As a devout Roman Catholic, she was a proud member and former president of the Rosary Society. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker who treasured her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Besides solving crossword puzzles, she also enjoyed playing cards and board games with her children and grandchildren. She loved the ocean and many family vacations were spent there.
