Margaret “Peggy” S. Mittl, 91, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in the Vailsburg section of Newark, Peggy was a proud woman of Irish heritage. She attended Sacred Heart Grammar School in Newark and the Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth. She later moved to Livingston in 1952 as a newlywed. She worked for many years as an office administer at what is now PNC Bank. Peggy was an active member of St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, as well as the rosary maker’s guild. She was also a member of the Livingston Knight of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph W. Mittl. She is survived by her loving children, Joseph R. Mittl, and Jeanne Carpenter and her husband Thomas. She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren Kim Marie and Julianne, as well as her great-grandson Landon Thomas.
Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, May 12 at 10:30AM at St. Philomena’s Church, Livingston. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston.
