My Aunt Margaret was married to my Dad's (Herman Russo's) brother, Edward. She was a wonderful, vibrant, optimistic person. Her laughter would cover a large room to share with everyone. She would tell us stories of her life. which encompassed over 100 years.
One story stands out. We were out to lunch together a couple of years ago and I asked her..." Was Uncle Ed always a quiet person?" (he could sit for hours and not say a word) She replied...." we went out on a couple of dates and on the second one, he dropped me at home and I asked, Don't you ever talk?"
We would get a kick out of her doggie (Speedy)..definitely the slowest laziest dog you would ever encounter.
Her compassion and generosity flowed naturally because her Christian upbringing made it so. When our Dad passed away suddenly in The Summer of 1963, (age 41) Margaret came to the forefront with love and understanding. I will never forget it.
An amazing, forthright, kind and sometimes outspoken woman. She was no shrinking violet! Anyone who lives 101 years has a book of experiences to write about. If you consider what she lived through..Prohibition, The Great depression, Pearl Harbor, World war II, the wounding of her hero husband,The Economic Boom of the 50's, 60's 70's late 80's. 90's, 2000's. The attack of 911. Vietnam, The Iraq War. I guess I could go on...she experienced so much!
WHAT A LADY!! She will be missed and her legacy will be remembered for generations to come. She gave so much and requested so little. Margaret Russo, you were AMAZING!
