Predeceased by her husband, Anthony Meddis, she was a caring mother to her children Vinny and Teresa (Pannia), son-in-law Joe, grandchildren Joey and Danielle (Robinson), and their spouses Merry and Jon. She also had the great fortune to spend time with 5 great-grandchildren, Ellie, Noah, Lucia, Leo, and Selah.
As an immigrant from Calabria Italy, Delina never second guessed one of the most important values in an Italian family, and that was the desire to host, especially for the Holidays. Her goal was always to ensure that she cooked and provided the best meals possible. It didn't matter if you were immediate family, or were friends stopping over before/after Midnight Mass during her many years living in Newark, NJ, she made sure she provided you a glass and plate, regardless if you said 'please' or 'no thank you'!
Her other two loves without question were gardening and working on her sewing projects. She was always successful growing her own fruits and vegetables, and served those as part of her meals. When she retired from working as a full-time seamstress for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, she continued to hem and sew as part-time work. Her basement was a treasure-trove that was awe-inspiring. One side was a full kitchen that helped create her homemade pastas, sauces, and desserts, and the other side had multiple sewing machines, needles, threads, and fabrics. It was magic to see her develop ideas on her workbench, tailor it on a mannequin, and make final hems on the machine.
She has forever blessed many with her love, passions, and strength.
