Marie M. Mondesir

Marie Yolene was born on October 11, 1946, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the late Moise and Germaine Mondesir. She was the second of eight children. She was raised in house full of love and laughter with her 11 siblings. These early years helped shape the strong, caring, and devoted woman that became a labor and delivery nurse.

In 1981, Marie married her beloved husband, Joseph Cornet, who preceded her in death. They were blessed with two sons, Nephtaly and Luberman and built a family that became the greatest joy and pride in her life.

Marie was an incredible wife and mother, hardworking and dedicated woman. She worked as Certified Nursing Assistant until her retirement. Her work was an important part of her life, but her family was always at the heart of everything she did.

Madame Joe had a remarkable gift for staying connected to the people in her life. She believed in keeping in touch and made phone calls every day to check on the people she loved. She worried about everyone and always wanted to know how they were doing. Her calls were more than just conversations; they were a reminder of how deeply she cared.

She never forgot a birthday. Madame Joe made sure that every special occasion was remembered, often having a card waiting for someone when she saw them. She was sentimental to the bone and cherished the memories, traditions, and connections that brought her loved ones together. She captured every moment with a photo session so it would never be forgotten.

Madame Joe loved with her whole heart. Her generosity, thoughtfulness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a way of making people feel remembered, valued, and loved.

Her life was a gift to so many. Her love will continue through the family she cared for so deeply, the memories she created, and the lessons she left behind. She taught us that love is not just something you say, it is something you show, again and again, in the little things and the big things.

Madame Joe leaves behind a family who will carry and cherish her memories in their heart forever: Her beloved children, Nephtaly and Luberman Cornet who were the greatest love of her life. Daughter in law Nicky Cornet and Kelly Bartolo, her cherished grandchildren, Daniela, Mya, Josiah, and Jaliyah Cornet. She is also survived by her sister, Gertha Jean Baptiste (Yves Jean Baptiste, husband), Antoine Mondesir (Marie Mondesir, wife) along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Marie was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Jean Robert Mondesir, Lionel Mondesir, Joseph Mondesir, Ullry Mondesir, Gladys Mondesir, Yvette Hobeb, Ernest Mondesir, Frantz Mondesir, and Evans Mondesir.

Until we meet again, Madame Joe, please know that you were deeply loved, you were deeply appreciated, and you will never, ever be forgotten.

Rest peacefully, Madame Joe. Your work here is done, but your love lives on forever.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Philomena Roman Catholic Church, 386 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039, with a Committal to take place at 1:00 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery, 408 Orange Road, Montclair, NJ 07042.
