Michael grew up in Livingston and graduated from Seton Hall Prep in 1991. From there he would go on to pursue an academic and professional career in physics with a focus on magnetic nanoparticles. He graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics. For his Master’s Degree Michael attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and then the University of Salford in Manchester, England as a Joule Scholar where he was awarded his Ph.D.
Upon graduation Michael joined the Physics faculty at the University of Delaware where he conducted research and taught. During that time he was granted a patent for metallic iron nanoparticles for MRI contrast enhancements.
Michael was predeceased by his grandparents Bernice Bonder, and Tomasz and Marta Dubelt. He is survived by his parents John J. and Ronnie Bonder, brother David Bonder (Brooke), niece Sloane Bonder, grandfather John Bonder, great aunt Helen Kominek, his uncles James Bonder (Pat) and Dr. Edward Bonder (Carol), and cousins Jessica Bonder, Tim Bonder (Suzie), Matt Bonder (Alex), Dr. Daniel Bonder (Dr. Corey), and Kevin Bonder.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, NJ, on Sunday, December 16, from 3 to 7PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Philomena Church, 386 S. Livingston Ave., on Monday, December 17, at 10AM. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
