Michael George Melo, Sr., 81, of Livingston, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in Livingston, NJ. Born in Newark, he was a longtime resident of Livingston. Michael was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served overseas during the Korean Conflict. He was the past Exalted Ruler of the Livingston Elks Lodge# 1855, and owned F&M Body Shop in East Orange for 25 years.
Michael was predeceased by his siblings Arthur, Louise, and Frankie. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Theresa. He is also survived by his daughter Stephanie Melo and her husband Richard Narey, his son Michael Jr., his grandson Zachary, his sister Jennie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11 from 3-7 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ. A service by the Livingston Elks will conclude the visitation at 6:30PM. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
