Born in Clooncunny, County Sligo, Ireland, on March 24, 1947, Nora was one of eleven children of Patrick and Anne Drury (née Dwyer). She moved to New Jersey in 1965, and she married her beloved husband, Wayne Stoddard Gordon, in 1967. Nora worked for Sony Electronics, Inc. in Park Ridge, NJ, as an Accountant for many years, and while working, she graduated from Dominican University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree.
Nora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit touched everyone she met. With her welcoming smile and infectious laughter, Nora had a gift for making others feel at home. She was an exceptional seamstress and talented knitter, an accomplished bowler, an avid gardener, and a lover of music and the performing arts. Whether playing tennis, golf, bocce, or bicycling, she embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. Always the first on the dance floor and the last to say goodbye, Nora’s love knew no bounds. Her spirit of generosity and kindness will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
Surviving Nora are Wayne Gordon, her husband of 58 years and their children and spouses: Susan Gordon Auchincloss (Brian) of San Jose, CA, and Douglas Wayne Gordon (Samantha) of Montville, NJ, as well as two grandchildren: Olivia and Sienna Gordon. She leaves behind a family who adored her—including sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, and nephews—as well as countless friends who will always remember her with love.
A visitation is scheduled on Saturday, March 1, from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, New Jersey. Burial on Sunday, March 2, at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, New Jersey, will be private.
