On Monday, April 5, 2021, Richard James Finneran, loving husband to Diane, passed away at the age of 78. Richard was born on December 24, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey. He received a Doctorate of Education from Rutgers University and worked as a learning consultant in the Newark public school system for more than 30 years, where being an advocate for children was truly his passion. Richard loved watching sports (especially Rutgers, the Yankees, and the Giants), was a Greek and Roman history scholar, and enjoyed traveling the world with Diane.

He is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter Kimberly and her husband Stephen, his grandchildren Austin and Chloe, his brother-in-law John and wife Gail, his nephew John, and several dear cousins and other relatives.

The visitation will be held at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston on Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 9-11am. Funeral mass will be held the same day at St. Raphael Parish in Livingston at 11:30am, followed by burial services at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
