Shortly after his birth, Richie and his family moved to Maplewood, New Jersey, where he spent most of his childhood. During his senior year of high school, he moved to Millburn, New Jersey — a move that would shape the rest of his life, as it was there he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Dale Schoenfeld.
Before beginning his career, Richie proudly served in the National Guard, demonstrating early on the sense of duty and commitment that would define much of his life. Following his service, he became a member of the New York Stock Exchange, where he built a respected career as a Specialist Broker. He dedicated many years to his work with professionalism, integrity, and determination, forming lasting relationships along the way.
Richie was known for his short stature but larger-than-life presence. He had a big personality, a sharp wit, and a tremendous sense of humor that could light up any room. His quick one-liners and playful spirit made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.
He was also deeply philanthropic and believed strongly in giving back. He was a proud supporter of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, and St. Jude’s Hospital, generously contributing to help advance care within the community.
Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Jason Gianni, his daughter-in-law Jody, and his beloved granddaughter Bella; and by his daughter, Lisa Aaron, his son-in-law Josh, and his cherished granddaughter Harper, as well as his brother, Keith B. Gianni of Fairbanks, Alaska. His family was his greatest joy, and he was deeply proud of the lives they built and the love they shared.
Richie will be remembered for his enduring love story with Dale, his unwavering commitment to his family, his generosity, and the laughter he brought into the lives of so many. His legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren, and in the countless memories filled with humor and love.
A cryptside funeral service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, February 18 at 12:15 PM at the Chapel at Short Hills, 451 Millburn Avenue, Millburn, NJ.
