Robert K. Arata

In his youth, Robert loved spending summers at the family bungalow in Ortley Beach, NJ with his loving siblings and parents. He enjoyed spending time rolling the dice and playing the game of Craps in Atlantic City and driving around in his prized canary yellow Karmann Ghia Volkswagen.

Robert met the love of his life of nearly 50 years, Genevieve and together raised their sons in Nutley, NJ before moving to Livingston where he enjoyed volunteering with his sons’ sports activities and Boy Scouts troop. He worked for the company Anheuser-Busch for most of his career before retiring in 2000.

Following his retirement he opened up a small transportation business driving clients to various destinations such as the airport, city shopping, or medical appointments.

He loved taking his family on vacations to Virginia to visit Busch Gardens and Jamestown and out west to Las Vegas and Arizona. He enjoyed quick trips to AC with his sons for some fun with the boys. He also very much enjoyed his annual getaway to his Timeshare in Aruba each February with his valentine, Genevieve.

He treasured spending time with each of his grandchildren. He would often say “Remember that family is everything.” He never failed to greet family and friends with his grinning blue eyes and bigger than life smile and pay them a compliment or tell them he loved them before parting ways.

He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Genevieve and sons Robert, Frank (Laura), Michael, David, and Ken (Laura), as well as grandchildren Timothy, Orion, Melanie, Jesselyn, Lillian, Brandon, Shaelynn, Patrick, Ryan, Collin, Adelyn, Luke, Arabella, Alex; sister, Helen (John), brother in-law, Johnny, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, John Russell, mother, Susan, brother, Russell, sister, Ivy (Edward), brother, Jack, sister, Lorraine.

Visitation for Robert will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Saint Philomena Roman Catholic Church, 386 S Livingston Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039. An entombment will occur Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
