

Bob was born on November 24, 1934, in Albany, New York, to William and Ruth (Ross) Carter. He graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, in 1953 and went on to earn a degree in Accounting from Rutgers University in 1957.
Bob built a distinguished career as a Certified Public Accountant. He began his professional life in consumer banking, later working for Bank of America before transitioning to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
A longtime resident of Short Hills, New Jersey, Bob also cherished spending summers on Long Beach Island with family and friends. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge for many years and served in several leadership roles throughout his involvement.
Bob was an avid sports fan who rarely missed a game featuring his beloved Dodgers, Giants, or Knicks. He also had a lifelong passion for automobiles, especially repairing cars and following auto racing.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Cornish Carter; his three children, Kimberly Carter Coughlin (Rick), Caroline Carter Smith (Jonathan), and Robert Cornish Carter (Jamie); and his six grandchildren, Kelly Coughlin, Connor Coughlin, Nathaniel Smith, Henry Smith, Mason Carter, and Quinn Carter.
He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his dedication to his profession and the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life.
