Born on February 3, 1955, in Queens, New York, Tom was the son of the late Agnes Reilly (née McInerney) and George Reilly. He was the youngest of four children.
Tom graduated from St. John’s University, where he earned both his undergraduate degree and an MBA. After initially pursuing a career in finance, he found his true calling upon graduating from St. John’s University School of Law. Thereafter, Tom focused on the practice of law. Throughout his professional journey, he earned a reputation as a skilled and respected attorney, admired for his meticulous preparation, sharp intellect, and steadfast integrity.
Guided by deep faith and quiet devotion, Tom was often a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was always with thoughtfulness and purpose. With a gentle spirit and a kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone he met, Tom inspired trust, warmth, and admiration, leaving a legacy cherished by all who knew him.
Family was at the center of Tom’s life. He gave himself selflessly to those he loved, caring devotedly for his mother, Agnes, during her battle with Alzheimer’s disease, and later for his sister Kathleen through her own health challenges.
Tom carried that same devotion and commitment into the life he built with his own family. A devoted husband and loving father, he found his greatest joy in his wife and children, who were the enduring source of his pride, purpose, and happiness. He was never more content than when he was at home, surrounded by family, enjoying his favorite New York sports teams—the Giants, Jets, and Yankees.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Kathleen P. Carleton, and his loving children, Michael Reilly, Connor Reilly, and Katie Reilly, all of West Orange, New Jersey. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Reilly, of Phoenix, Arizona. Tom was predeceased by his sisters, Kathleen Reilly and Irene Gorman.
