Alan Ray Buehler

Alan Ray Buehler entered into rest on July 22, 2026. He was born in Berthoud, Colorado on October 22, 1936 to Jake S. Buehler and Alice Lucille Buehler (Yates) to a small family with his 2 sisters Shirley A. French (preceded in passing) and Beverly A. Stickelmeyer of Berthoud, CO, and 1 brother Howard D. Buehler (preceded in passing). 

He grew up on the family farm that is still in the family. He told of working out in the fields before going to school. It was a dairy farm early in his life, so helping milk the cows twice a day was a part of normal daily life.

Alan graduated from Berthoud High School, he played football-position quarterback and basketball. He married his high school sweetheart, Louise M. Krieger, in Raton, NM on October 22, 1955. Together they raised 2 children, Carole L. Davis of Indianapolis, IN and Stanley A. Buehler of Aurora, CO. He has 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He worked his entire career for Continental Airlines in many capacities, starting in baggage handling working his way into management, and later as station manager at Denver Stapleton Airport. During this time he lived in San Antonio, TX and Camarillo, CA; in addition to Denver, CO. A duty near and dear to his heart was his role with MAC flights tasked to move soldiers into and out of the Vietnam Theater of conflict. The flights were long stretches of boredom followed by short periods of high risk flight. He developed and maintained close relationships with the flight crews.

Alan retired from Continental and went on to build a successful landscape company and built 2 homes for he and his wife, both in Aurora.

He served in the Air National Guard while living in San Antonio, TX. He had his bags packed and ready to report during the Bay of Pigs Invasion 1961, but was never deployed.

Alan is the type of person that once he met you, he remembered you forever. He remembered the first and last name of nearly everyone he hired including the hire date, neighbors, people he met while waiting for appointments during treatments for Prostate Cancer, pharmacy techs the list goes on. Alan loved travel and flight of all sorts. While in San Antonio Alan competed in a kite building and launching contest and won an all expense paid trip to Europe for two; it was a trip of a lifetime for he and Louise. He has enjoyed an Alaskan cruise, trips to go to NASCAR races, several trips to Indianapolis to visit family, the last Indy 500 was the 100th running in 2016.

He valued hard work, never saw a project he wouldn’t take on. His last adventure was buying an 80 year old, non-working Ford tractor, loading it on a trailer and without tires on it, rolling it into his garage so he would have a Winter project. He came close to finishing it; however, never got to hear it fire up. Alan was also a longtime member of the Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church.

A Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary & Crematory, 439 Coffman Street Longmont, Colorado 80501, on July 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral at the same location at 11:00 am.

A Graveside Committal will take place at Green Lawn Cemetery, 601 North County Road 13, Berthoud, Colorado 80513, on July 30, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
