

Alberta Marie Sage died Thursday, August 13 at her home in Longmont CO.Alberta was born in Bear Creek Township, IL on March 25, 1922 to Henry Albert and Helena Marie (Spresser) Curtin. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1940 and St. John's School of Nursing in 1943 prior to enlisting in the U. S Army Air Nurses Corps in 1944. Alberta married Clinton O. Sage on September 15, 1947 and resided in Taylorville, IL until moving to Colorado in 1961, living in Colorado Springs, Wheat Ridge, Delta, Grand Junction, and most recently Longmont, CO following Clinton's death in 2008.Alberta practiced nursing in various areas throughout her career including private duty, maternity and ER. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and nurtured as evidenced in the numerous notes accumulated thanking her for her extraordinary care. Alberta enjoyed gardening and farming with Clinton and canning and freezing their produce. Sewing was a special skill she shared; making and mending countless articles through the years. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Robert, Jim, and Bruce; and grandson, Jason Fresquez. She is survived by sisters, Doris (Curtin) Castagno and Sister Bernice O.P. (Martha Curtin); sons Steve of Alamosa and Clifton of Medford, Oregon; daughter Janet of Longmont, CO; granddaughter Christina Dean and Steven of Frederick, CO; grandson Michael Fresquez of Fort Collins, CO; great grandchildren Cassius Fresquez; and Taylor, Kylie, Alex, Payten and Connor Dean. Memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 20 in the chapel of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 323 Collyer Street in Longmont (303-776-0737).
