Alice was born to Marion and Mamie Dodson on December 5, 1936 in Crow, TX. She graduated from Grapevine High School in 1955 and completed her nurse’s training at the Methodist Hospital of Dallas School of Nursing.
Alice married Demis Paul Martinez, Jr. on March 25, 1957. They moved to Colorado and lived in Grand Junction and Durango. They divorced in 1970 and Alice resumed her career in nursing. In 1973, Alice and her three boys moved to Enid, OK where she worked as an operating room technician. In 1978, she returned to Durango for about six years before moving to Hawaii. Alice moved back to Grand Junction and semi-retired in 1991. She spent the last fifteen years of her life in the Denver area. She was a member of Rocky Mountain Bible Baptist Church, Longmont.
She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, was an avid genealogist and wrote great stories about the memories of her life. She also enjoyed camping and most of all, spending time with her family.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
Alice is survived by her sons, Neal of Broomfield CO, Ken and his wife, Sheri of Longmont CO, Anthony and his wife, Cindy of Grand Junction CO and eight grandchildren, Steve (Bethany), Jacob, Mark (Hannah), Jennifer (Jonathon), Jocelyn, Zachary, Brandon, Jordan and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 at Rocky Mountain Bible Baptist Church, Longmont, CO. Burial will follow in Foothills Cemetery in Longmont for immediate family members. Services are under the direction of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
Flowers or memorials may be given in Alice’s memory and sent to Rocky Mountain Bible Baptist Church, Longmont CO.
