Alice Steinke was born the eldest child of Milton and Irene Madson on May 24, 1927 at Mayville, ND She was reared in Portland, ND where she received her early education.
On Nov 26, 1944, she married Paul Steinke in Moorhead, MN. To this union five children were born.
Her working life included Gould, Secretary of YMCA, and head cook for Headstart.
Mrs. Steinke was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. For twelve years she lived in independent living at Hover Manor.
For many years, Alice worked as a team gardener with her husband Paul, raising tomato and geranium plants for the community of Longmont.
She is survived by daughters Norma (Thomas) Watkins of San Antonio, Texas, Shelley (Sam) Kunselman of Longmont; sons, Michael, Chicago, IL, Rodger (Ruth), Loveland, CO and Paul Jr. (Deborah) of Colorado Springs, CO; 9 grandchildren, Todd (Heather), Michelle (Steven), Gregory, Aggie (Giovanni), Amanda (Joshua), Kelli (Ben), Dustin, Lee (Heather), and Luke (Emily); sister-in-law, Janice; 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, August 3rd, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont with the Reverend Katie Chullino of the church officiating. (Masks are required).
Inurnment will be held in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Columbarium following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the charity of one's choice in lieu of flowers.
In honor of our mother’s tradition of afternoon coffee and refreshments, such will be served.
