Aline A. Kawulok

Aline A. Kawulok, 83, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007 at Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville.Aline was born July 5, 1924, in Lida, Poland, the daughter of Witold and Rozalia (Glaz) Drozdowski. She served as a World War II freedom fighter and nurse during the Warsaw Uprising. As a holocaust survivor of Bergen-Belsen, she was liberated to England where she joined Polish forces in support of the Allied efforts. There, she met and married Anthony J. Kawulok (1921-1997), an officer with the Polish forces. In the winter of 1950, they immigrated to the United States with their daughter.While living in Wyoming, the couple added three sons to their family. In 1963, Aline and Anthony moved to Colorado where they remained for the rest of their lives. Their combined success in real estate development was the result of Aline?s knack for spotting a piece of land and envisioning its best use, along with Anthony?s talent as a builder.In 1970, Aline returned to school at the University of Colorado where she received a degree in sociology. She was active throughout her life with social work, assisting Polish citizens and immigrants to the United States. She also enjoyed cooking and painting.Her husband of 50 years, Anthony, preceded her in death.Mrs. Kawulok is survived by her daughter, Eva Lieser and her husband, Irvin, of Fort Collins; and three sons, Stephen Kawulok and his wife, Mary, of Fort Collins, Conrad Kawulok and his wife, Kathy, of Longmont, and Ted Kawulok and his wife, Kim of Boulder; twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.No visitation is scheduled. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Boulder. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Anthony J.
