

Allen Leroy Wilson, 78 of Longmont, passed away on September 21, 2018 with his family by his side. Al was born September 17, 1940 in Andover, Kansas. He was raised in Kansas by his mother, Irma (Nelson) Mullins and father, Robert Mullins and graduated from Wichita High School East.Al proudly served in the United States Army for three years where he was an expert marksman and sharp shooter and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany where he met the love of his life, Sigrid Knapp. They were married on November 9, 1962 in Germany. Al returned home to the U.S. and Sigrid shortly followed to begin their new life together. Al worked at Kennedy Space Center in Florida for eight years, during the Apollo era as a Quality Assurance Inspector. It was there in Florida that Al developed his love for fishing, a passion he held dear throughout his lifetime.Al and Sigrid moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1976 where they remained for over 42 years. He worked as the General Manager at Liquor Mart in Boulder for 32 years until his retirement in 2005.Al was an avid sports enthusiast and was especially fond of the Colorado teams; The Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche, etc. He also enjoyed woodworking and traveling the world with his wife. Above all, Al loved spending time with his family and was very proud of each and every one of them.He is preceded in death by his parents. Al is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sigrid, their three children; Carmen Gibson (Famuer Rasmussen, Jr.) of Longmont, CO, Karen Geisler of Loveland, CO and Gary (Angela) Wilson of Erie, CO, ten grandchildren; Brittany (Stephen) Terreault, Amber Gibson, Garrett (Morgan) Colon, Collin Wilson, TeJay Geisler, Blake, Aiden, Corbin, Dillon and Z y Donaldson, eight great-grandchildren; Briana, Lyndon, Dameon, Aydyn, Kingston, Anthony, Aaliyah and Alexis, three siblings; Alfred (Mona) Wilson, Eydie Hockett and Bob Mullins, nephew Bob Hockett, niece Stacey Morgan, as well as extended family in Germany.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 28 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
