
Alpha Pearle Millington died unexpectedly following a brief illness Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Beatrice Hover Assisted Living. She was 88 years old.She was born March 16, 1924 in Greenfield, Iowa to Paul and Iva P. (Kent) Richardson. Alpha was born weighing in at 1 lbs. Her mother and grandmother worked very hard keeping her alive. Her first few months were spent in a sh box filled with cotton placed on the old coal stove. She was spunky from the beginning.Alpha was united in marriage to Frank French, and to this union three children, Larry, Sharie and Don were born. She later married Al Millington and they had one son Scott Russell.She had a long and meaningful career as a nurse. Alpha helped open the Longmont Community Hospital in March of 1959. As Al was in Civil Service his career took them to many places and Alpha practiced as a nurse in Germany, Thailand and in Tacoma, Washington. She retired as night supervisor at Applewood Nursing Home. She loved being a nurse.She was a member and past president of Unit 32 American Legion Auxiliary, and also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2601 Auxiliary.Alpha is remembered for her love and devotion to her family. She enjoyed traveling, reading and keeping a clean home.She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Frank French and Al Millington, brother Max Richardson and sister-in-law Barb Richardson Danto.Alpha is survived by sons Larry French (Liz), Don French (Dawn Swift) and Scott Russ Millington (Cali Alexander), daughter Sharie Lee (Roger), eleven grandchildren Larrick (Alyssa) French, Jessica French, David (Kathy) Lee, Matthew Lee, Shawn (Jenny) Lee, Kami (Victor) Puchino, Robyn (Lloyd) Lawson, Marci French, Beth (Shaun) Fife, Savahanna and Cierra Millington, and twenty-four great grandchildren.Memorial services will be 2:00pm Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Hover Manor, 1401 Elmhurst Dr. Longmont. Pastor Gary Jefferson will preside. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Inurnment will be 10:00am Monday, June 18, at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary.
