

Alvin C. Romero, of Longmont, Colorado, died July 22, 2006 at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 67 years old.Alvin was born December 3, 1938 in Cimarron, New Mexico to Benjamin and Flora (Sisneros) Romero. He grew up and attended schools in Guadalupita, New Mexico before moving to Longmont in 1946.Mr. Romero lived in Rawlins, Wyoming and worked for the City Parks Department. He had also worked on various oilrig crews near Casper, Wyoming. He returned to Longmont in 1973.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and playing cards. He also spent many hours restoring classic cars.Alvin is survived by a son, Ambrose Romero and his wife, Veronica, of San Jose, California; three brothers, David Romero and his wife, Victoria, of Denver, Colorado, Roger Romero of Santa Maria, California, and Ronald Romero of Longmont; and by nine sisters: Georgia Najera and her husband, Tony, of Longmont, Eleanor Romero and her husband, Sam, of Guadalupita, New Mexico, Mabel Enneking and her husband, Kevin of Pine, Colorado, Pauline Romero of Westminster, Colorado, Juliet Chastain of King City, Oregon, Lillian Barela and her husband, Charles, of Denver, Colorado, Brittany Montion of Bellevue, Washington, Darlene Groff and Liz Romero, both of Longmont. He is further survived by five grandchildren, Alvin Jr., Angelica, Ambrose Jr., Jesse and Ashley; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Leroy Romero; a sister, Lorraine Martin; and a son, Alvin Romero, Jr.Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary, Longmont on Monday, July 24, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil and Recitation of the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Longmont, with the Reverend Brian Morrow as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
