She lived in Longmont until her graduation from Longmont High School in 2009. In school, Alyssa enjoyed photography and performing with the LHS Indoor Percussion team where they won multiple state championships and travelled to Dayton, OH for national competitions.
After high school Alyssa studied photography at Colorado Mtn College and Criminology at Pikes Peak State College in Colo. Springs. Most recently, Alyssa was pursuing a degree in history through Arizona State University. She had a particular interest in WWII history.
Alyssa had found true love with her fiancé Bill. In his words: She had a beautiful, infectious smile and giggle. If you asked her favorite color, she would say "glitter!" with pink as her second favorite. She was genuine and bubbly. We loved horror and rock n' roll, and went to concerts, conventions, and other events. We shared many "firsts" together: her first Yankee game, Red Rocks show, and slow dance to our song. We started a beautiful life together and our home is full of memories with our little family. We'd spend hours reading and watching Stephen King books and movies. The Stand was one of her favorites; Rose Red, another. Our plan was to be together forever. I'll honor her and keep the plans that we had, the adventures that we had coming up in the future, and work to achieve our goals. She's not only my hero, but now many others'. Her wishes were to be a donor, gifting others with life.
We’ve received word that her gifts have saved more than six lives and it comforts us to know that she’s living on in them.
Alyssa is survived by her loving fiance, Bill Guenther, her mother Janet (Larson) Markley, and brother Kyle Markley. She is preceded in death by her father, Sterling Markley.
Date and place of a memorial service have yet to be decided.
