

Anna-Maria P. Taylor of Longmont passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Longmont United Hospital. She was born January 1, 1955 in the Territory of Guam and moved to Boulder with her parents, John and Remy Pitts, shortly thereafter. Anna grew up in a large and loving family with a brother and three sisters in their Martin Acres home where her mother still resides.Anna was raised in Boulder and graduated from Boulder High School in 1973. She started dating her future husband, Alan Taylor, in 1974 while traveling with the Boulder High School Band to perform in the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami. Anna and Alan were married October 18, 1980 at Denver's Holy Ghost Catholic Church and moved to Longmont in 1981.Their daughter Tess was born July 6, 1992 in Longmont. Anna's devotion in raising Tess was a central part of her life. Tess gave Anna a beautiful granddaughter, Michelle, on September 23, 2007. Michelle and Tess remained the central focus of Anna's world along with her large extended family.Anna's entire career was based on service to others and the community. She worked at several historical businesses in Boulder in her youthful years, including Red Barn Restaurant, Millers Grocery and the Boulder Daily Camera. She spent numerous years in direct customer service with Tupperware, Inc. during the 1980s, and later transitioned into a career of community service. Anna joined the City of Boulder in January 1990, where she has been Facilities Coordinator at the East Boulder Community Center for Senior Services. She greatly enjoyed the opportunity to work with the public in fostering an inviting community environment at the Center, and loved interacting with the seniors and citizens. Anna always had a happy face to share and a caring spirit to help others. Anna has strong faith in the Catholic Church and for many years enjoyed attending traditional mass at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Her faith gave her great resolve and commitment in her life towards caring for all others around her. She was most devoted to her daughter in helping her through the challenges of life and carried her devotion forward in the recent care of her granddaughter.Anna enjoyed snow and water skiing, gardening in her yard, spending time with family and friends, Denver Broncos and CU Buffaloes football, getting manicures and a good afternoon nap.Anna was preceded in death by her father, John Pitts, and sister, Margarita Marciniak. Survivors include her husband Alan, daughter Tess and granddaughter Michelle, and her mother Remy Pitts of Boulder, brother Ed Pitts and wife Julia of Elizabeth, Colorado, sisters Remy Mauro and husband Joe of Reno, Nevada, and Jeanne McGinnis and husband Mike of Aurora, Colorado and their families.A memorial service will be held at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 3300 Table Mesa Drive, in Boulder on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 9:30 AM.
