

Anthony E. ""Tony""/""Ace"" Onorato, Sr., 86, of Firestone, CO died August 18, 2009 at the Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center, Lafayette. Tony was born July 4, 1923 in Firestone, the son of Dominic and Assunta (Serravo) Onorato. Following his high school graduation Tony enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving during World War II. On October 5, 1941 he married Irene Popineau in Denver, CO. He was a lifelong member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Frederick. In his younger days Tony was an avid motorcycle rider and he loved auto racing. He loved tending his yard and garden and mostly enjoyed the time spent with his son Tony, Jr. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family. In 1955 Tony opened Onorato Garage, with his son Tony, Jr. Later his grandson would join the company, continuing operation for more than 55 years. He retired on July 4, 2009.Mr. Onorato was a tireless worker and volunteer for the community he adored and loved. He served as a Deputy for the Weld County Sheriff's Department, where he also served as the training officer. He also served Firestone as its Marshall for 26 years and as the Justice of Peace. He was a member of the Tri-Town Rod and Gun Club and the Tri-Town Lions Club where he'd served as president for both. He'd served on the Firestone town board and had also held the position of town maintenance man for a number of years. In years past he'd also served on the Tri-Area Sanitation District Board and the Tri-Town Ambulance District Board and he also served as President C.A.R.C. Tony was a lifetime member of the VFW and the DAV. His parents, his brother Dominic Onorato, Jr. and his sisters Lucille Evanzich, Marie Elliott, Lorraine St. Peter, and Lorraine Alice Onorato preceded Tony in death.Surviving are his wife Irene of Firestone; his son Anthony (Dolores) Onorato, Jr of Firestone; his daughter Fran (Nick) Parra, Sr. of Berthoud and his sister Helen McHugh of Westminster. Further surviving are six Grandchildren; Les Onorato of Longmont, Irene Parra and Nick Parra, Jr. of Berthoud, Jolene Hamilton of Firestone, Darren Lontine of Longmont and Vance Lontine of Longmont. Seven Great Grandchildren and two Great Great Grandchildren also survive.Visitation is scheduled for Monday, August 24 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary in Longmont.A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 both at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Frederick, CO.
