Barbara Anne MasonMarch 10, 1927 ~ April 20, 2013Barbara Anne Mason, 86, of Longmont, CO, died on April 20, 2013. She was born on March 10, 1927 in Mt. Clemens, MI to Gregory Andrew and Mildred (Braun) Mitchell. Her father, G.A. Mitchell was an early member of the US Army Air Force and rose in rank from PFC to Colonel before retirement in 1945. Barbara enjoyed pre-war service life before WWII with her family, living in California, Panama, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Colorado.Barbara graduated in 1945 from Colorado Springs HS, attended Colorado College before moving to California for her father's health. There she graduated in 1951 from Knapp College of Nursing, Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara, California.Barbara married John Richard Mason on August 7, 1953 in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Barbara served as an operating room nurse in several California hospitals as she and John moved their family to different positions in manufacturing and engineering. They made moves to Indiana, Florida, Arizona, back to California and finally to Longmont, Colorado in December of 1982.She enjoyed homebuilding, landscaping and gardening in the different climates. She most enjoyed her years at the Flower Bin and her roses.Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Richard, and daughter Joan Louise on November 29, 1957.Barbara is survived by sons Brad (Janet), Bryan and Alex Mason of Longmont, daughter Christine Mason of N. Carolina, brother G. A.
