Barry Jon Kelly, better known to his Lyons community as “Bearcat”, passed away October 17, 2013 at Longmont United Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was 66 years young and will be missed by all.
Bearcat grew up in the Chicago area and meandered his way around Wisconsin and Iowa, ultimately finding his niche in the colorful community of Lyons, CO, where he was surrounded by many supportive friends, such as Ian Phillips who in the past wrote: “I hope the man knows how many lives he’s touched, he lived his life to the fullest, always speaking his mind. Sometimes he was a rugged, grumpy bastard and sometimes a caring compassionate soul.”
He leaves behind many friends; a brother Daniel J. Kelly of Stockton, CA; sisters Deanne Kelly Collins and Joan Kelly of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law Tom Collins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bearcat was preceded in death by his parents Genevieve and Daniel Kelly and a sister Gael Kelly Trudelle.
