
Beatrice Delight, known as Betty to her friends and family, was born on December 19, 1924 in Fairmont, Nebraska to Ernest T. and Julia Delight (Martin) Parnell. She attended Chadron State Teacher’s College where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Home Economics.
Betty married Elmer E. Herron on August 2, 1945 in Chadron. The family lived in a number of areas while Mr. Herron served in the Air Force. They moved to the Boulder area in 1971 and lived in Erie before moving to Sterling House in Longmont. She was a member of the Erie United Methodist Church.
Betty will be remembered as a military wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who took care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, homemaking and knitting and could be described as a “crafty” person. She made beautiful sweaters and Christmas stockings for friends and family members.
Her parents and three brothers: Jack and Bill Parnell and Ross King preceded Mrs. Herron in death. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Colonel (ret.) Elmer E. Herron; her daughter Kathy Sebring of Erie; two granddaughters: Cristi Robinson and her husband Nevin of Colorado Springs and Julie Miller and her husband Blake of Erie; and two great grandchildren: Jaden and Masyn Robinson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10 at 9:00 a.m. at Howe Mortuary in Longmont with funeral services to begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
