Bessie Bryant Lemonds

Bessie Bryant Lemonds, of Longmont, Colorado, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Longmont United Hospital. She was 87 years old.Bess was born July 17, 1918 in Amarillo, Texas, to Bryant and Shella (Quiggins) Tice. Her family settled in Hollis, Oklahoma where she graduated from Hollis High School in 1935. She attended Droughons Junior College in Oklahoma City, and Sul Ross State College in Texas and continued her education throughout her life. Bess retired from the Boulder Country Club in 1980 after serving 15 years as office manager.On January 29, 1938, Bess married Jack Lemonds in Tipton, Oklahoma. The couple lived in California, New Mexico, and Texas before moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1960 and Longmont 1978.Bess and her husband, Jack, had always dreamed of living in Colorado and took every advantage of it once they moved here. They spent almost every evening fishing together. Her love of travel, fishing, dancing, and Dixieland jazz continued after his death in 1996. They were married 58 beautiful years. Bess? family remembers her most for her love of family and her joy of entertaining.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack; and her son, Gary. Survivors include daughters, Marjorie Cates of Longmont, and Kathy Lemonds and her husband, Bruce Piggott, of Estes Park, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Penny Meyers; sisters, Jeanne Castelli, Ruby Andrews, Ella Mae Hatley, and Margaret LeFande; and brother, Joe Tice. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, Stephen Lemonds, Bert Scruggs, Nancy Fanning, John Lemonds, Sarah Sanders, Beckie Scruggs and Josh Scruggs; and eight great grandchildren, Grant, Ryan, Jacey, Jakob, Pilan, Kenda, Kyle and Emily.Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Chaplain T.R.
