Betty Brooks

Betty Brooks of Longmont, CO passed away on March 21, 2016 in Peoria, AZ. She was 78. She was born on October 22, 1937 in Las Animas, CO to Eugene Holt and Gladys (Anderson) Holt. She grew up on a rural farm in Las Animas, CO with her beloved brothers Kenny and John Holt. Betty attended Las Animas schools and graduated from Bent County High School in 1955. After graduation, she attended Colorado A & M in Fort Collins, CO. On August 12, 1956 she married Joe Brooks, they were devoted to each other for 59 years. Together they raised 3 daughters - Sharyl Artino (Michael), Sandy Stephens and Joanie Revielle (Brad) and 2 sons - Jay and Sam Brooks. Betty retired from the St. Vrain Valley School District in 1993. She loved working as an office aide and school nurse at Mountain View Elementary School. Joe and Betty enjoyed their retirement in Peoria, AZ. Her love of sports, especially baseball and basketball, was surpassed only by the love she had for her family. She was the official scorekeeper for the Longmont High baseball team where her husband was the coach. She was a generous, warm-hearted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend to many. Betty's genuine grace and her courageous, yet gentle spirit will live on forever in the hearts of us all. She was cherished and will be profoundly missed by everyone she knew. Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Joe; her children; her brother, John Holt (Lynda); as well as 9 grandchildren, (Nick, Jordan, Stefan, Torrie, Alex, Emily, Madison, Kayla and Dylan); and 5 great-grandsons, (Erik, Cole, Grady, Lucas and Layton). Her parents; and her brother, Kenny Holt, precede her in death. A memorial service is planned for April 8, 2016 at the Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Peoria, AZ. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Heart of Longmont, First United Methodist Church in Longmont.
