

Betty Jean Morgan, of Longmont, Colorado passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. Betty was born December 20, 1927 in Dix, Nebraska to Rexford M. Graham & Effie E (Gunderson) Graham. Betty attended school there and graduated from Dix High School in 1946. She then went to work in Estes Park, Colorado. This is where she met G.H. (Jerry Anspauch). They were married September 20, 1947. Jerry was killed 5 weeks after they were married in a car, train accident & Betty was severely injured & spent several months in Colorado General Hospital.
On February 1, 1949, she married Ronald Morgan at the Presbyterian Church in Dix, Nebraska. They farmed in Kimball County for a number of years. They were blessed with 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls. In 1966, they gave up farming and moved to Longmont, Colorado. Betty worked at Eventide Nursing Home, Woolworth's and Howell's Department Store. During that time, she also helped her husband with their electrical business. After several years, they sold Ronz Electric. Betty was employed at Staodyn for 15 years and then retired in 1998. After living in Longmont for 34 years, they moved to Firestone for 10 years. Due to her husband's health, they moved back to Longmont in 2009.
Betty was a member of Westview Presbyterian Church & American Legion Auxiliary. Betty and Ron volunteered at the Our Center for a number of years. She was also a volunteer for the Round Pantry at Westview Presbyterian Church and the Vistas of Longmont. While her children were growing up, she was a Den Mother and a 4-H Leader.
Betty and her husband enjoyed traveling with their RV especially to Arizona in the winter. She also loved to embroider and make quilts for all her great grandchildren, friends and other family members. Betty loved to cook and was a wonderful cook, giving goodies to friends, neighbors and family. Betty was a great fan of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies which she attended several spring training games in Arizona. She loved to dance and it was her will power to get well from her terrible accident in 1947 and indeed she did. Betty and Ron loved ballroom dancing and square dancing. Betty was a long time survivor of breast cancer but that didn't stop her from dancing, planting her flowers and garden and keeping very active.
Betty is survived by daughter, Donna Hazen (Stan) of Golden Dale, Washington; her sister, Dorothy Brothers of Kimball, Nebraska; her brother Wayne Graham of Loveland, Colorado. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Don (Jill) Angell of Texas; Amy Starspeaker of Lyons Colorado; Lori Starck of Windsor, Colorado; July Morgan of Kimball, Nebraska; Jerod (Krystal) Koldeway of Pulson, Montana. Great grandchildren include: Christopher, Mason, Jessica, Brooke, KJ, Zack, Casey, Emma, Kalyn & Jax; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Ron, son Douglas, son Dana, daughter Debbie, brother Donald Graham, brother Gene Graham; brother-in-law Glen Brothers, her first husband Jerry and several treasured relatives and friends who will welcome her home.
Betty will be greatly missed by many extended family members and friends. She was loved by everyone and always had a smile.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022, 2:00pm at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
Betty will be laid to rest at the Foothills Memorial Garden next to her husband and children. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's honor can be made to cancer research through Westview Presbyterian Church.
