Betty L. Saunders

Betty L. Saunders of Longmont died October 20, 2011 at her home. She was 75 years old.Betty was born on March 7, 1936 in Bridgeport, Nebraska, the daughter of Carl and Leota (Parks) Johnson. She moved to Longmont during her junior year of high school and attended Longmont High School.She married Eugene Saunders on June 23, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Betty worked as a clerk at the Postal Station located at Francis Street Pharmacy. She also worked in the cafeteria at Columbine and Mead Elementary schools. Betty was a professional garage saler who enjoyed arts and crafts. She was always proud of her Nebraska heritage, making sure that people always knew that she was from Sidney, Nebraska.She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bob and Harold Johnson and her daughter-in-law, Diana Saunders.Betty is survived by her husband, Eugene Saunders; her son, Gary Saunders and her daughter, Sharlotte Ehrlich (Jim), all of Longmont; her brother, Vernon Johnson of California; her cousins, Karen Stillwell of Longmont and Lee Hastings of Oregon; her grandchildren, Jamie Gaston, Janelle Ehrlich, Lindsey Saunders and Megan Saunders and her great-grandchildren, Jaden Gaston and Ashlyn Gaston.A visitation will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with a Funeral service to follow the visitation at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation for Rheumatoid Arthritis research and can be mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
