August 21, 1931 - October 9, 2026
Beverly (Gunn) Clark, loving mother of seven, passed away Oct. 9, 2026 at AltaVita Memory Care in Longmont, Colorado.
Beverly was born Aug. 21, 1931 to Francis Gunn (gold miner) and Marguerite (Grainger) Gunn (postmistress) in Cripple Creek, Colorado. She spent most of her childhood there and had a life-long love of the beauty, community and history of the area. She grew up with 2 very protective older brothers (Kenneth and Robert) and a younger sister (Patricia), who was her best friend and frequent companion until Pat’s passing in 2000.
Bev graduated from Barnes Business College in Denver and worked for a short time as a business secretary, before marrying Joseph Thomas Clark on Oct. 8, 1955. She went on to raise 7 children to her great joy, participating in all of their many activities, including teaching Sunday School, being a den mother for the Boy Scouts, working with the Girl Scouts, and traveling to many track meets and horse shows. In 1961, Bev was named the Westminster Plaza Queen for a Day, based on a heartwarming letter submitted by her older children. As her husband, Tom, said many times, she was the glue that held the family together, and was never happier than when she could spend time and help out with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As her children got older, she expanded her loving efforts by being a teacher’s assistant in a Westminster District 50 elementary school, as well as volunteering in the local hospital nursery.
After her kids were all grown, Bev went back to her business roots, helping out in the office of her son’s grocery business in Aspen, living in nearby Carbondale. Although she had always given freely of her time in the community wherever she lived, Bev jumped in with both feet when she and Tom retired to Longmont in 1993, spending many years volunteering with Meals On Wheels, OUR Center, and her church, Westview Presbyterian, where she served as a deacon along with many other activities. She helped start a neighborhood Lunch Bunch that met every month, and was constantly checking on her elderly neighbors, as well as extending kindness and support to all the many friends she made.
Beverly had a wonderful sense of fun and a dry wit to the very end, never failing to offer a big smile to anyone no matter how she was feeling herself. In her final months, she shared this kindness and sweetness with everyone at AltaVita Memory Care, resulting in a veritable parade of staff coming in to share their appreciation for her with her family, expressing gratitude for being able to care for her.
Bev’s husband, Tom, predeceased her on Feb. 21, 2015 after a long illness, with Bev faithfully and constantly at his side. Beverly is survived by her 7 children: Christina (Tom) Carlsen, J. Thomas (Linda) Clark, Carolee Strom, Kimberly (Tim) Cutler, Douglas Clark, Karleen Clark, and Allison (Brian) Morrison, along with 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, who will all miss her loving presence so much.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Westview Presbyterian Church in Longmont. Cremation is entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Longmont Meals on Wheels, OUR Center, Westview Presbyterian Church, or A Day Place and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
