Blondina Mae “Deanie” (Welch) Hendrix of Erie, CO passed from her earthly home to be with Jesus, on August 19, 2021 at the age of 90, surrounded by her family, who were her greatest JOY. Her passing was caused by complications from a fractured hip in late June, not Covid.
Deanie was born March 20, 1931 in County Line, OK. She grew up in the oil fields around Konawa, OK, graduating from Northeast High School, Oklahoma City, Class of 1950. She attended Southern Methodist University, and was an accomplished interior designer. She won several local beauty pageants. Deanie attracted the attention of a handsome ROTC Cadet, Bill Hendrix. They were smitten for life, marrying August 18, 1950.
They worked together in the RV industry over 60 years, most recently with Dometic Group. They lived and worked out of several custom made coaches, not owning a house for 23 years! Deanie's smile and outgoing spirit was a welcome presence at hundreds of RV rallies and events from coast to coast for over two decades. Their work took them to Europe several times. After retirement, Deanie was a church volunteer for 17 years, always with the same smile and spirit.
