Bonnie was born February 25, 1941, in Atwood, Kansas, to Leslie and Julia Makings. She grew up on the family farm alongside her brother, Les, and sisters, Lavona and Janet, enjoying country life and riding horses. In July 1956, the family moved to Colorado, where Bonnie graduated from Mead High School in 1958.
Bonnie met Ray Fiechtner at a football game, and the two married in March 1959. They made their home on the Fiechtner dairy farm, where they raised their three children, Douglas, Angela, and Cynthia Sue. After 33 years of marriage, they divorced, and Bonnie moved to Longmont, where she opened Shamrock Club Daycare. For many years, she lovingly cared for children, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, learning, and the occasional mischievous leprechaun at St. Patrick's Day. She retired in 2002 and later moved to Johnstown.
Bonnie had a creative spirit and loved sewing, painting, pottery, and baking. Her family will always treasure the beautiful things she made, the lessons she shared, and the fresh cookies and milk that greeted so many visits. She especially enjoyed sharing her creativity with her grandchildren.
Bonnie's faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully served at Mead United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years. She later attended Calvary Church in Longmont and Grace Community Church in Johnstown. Through every season of life, her love for Jesus remained her strength.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Julia Makings; her brother, Les Makings; her nephew, Erin McCauley; and her niece, Christine Makings.
She is survived by her children, Douglas (Dawnmarie) Fiechtner, Angela Fiechtner, and Cynthia Sue Case (Scott Dye); her grandchildren, Austin (Lisa) Case, Lindsay (Haydn) Christensen, Mitch (Amy) Gunlikson, and Reanna Carroll; and her great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Ava, and Harper (Austin and Lisa); Kelby, Finley, and Elsie Joann (Lindsay and Haydn); Oliver (Mitch and Amy); and Kayden (Reanna).
She is also survived by her sisters, Lavona and Janet, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of faith, creativity, laughter, and love.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds peace in knowing she is home with Jesus.
Her life goes on in ours.
