
John Booton died November 10, 2012 in Boulder. He was 78. John was born on February 14, 1934 in Maybell, Colorado, to Dan Booton and Dolly Kipp Booton. He graduated from Boulder High School in 1952. He eloped with Jane Ewbank in 1954. Their marriage only lasted 49 years, ending in 2003 when Jane passed away. Always a hard worker, John began sh ing horses at age 15. In the early years of his marriage, he ran livery stables in Allenspark, trained horses for the Miami Shrine Patrol in Florida, and did ranch work in Hyannis, Nebraska, before returning to Boulder. In 1960, he started with the Boulder Fire Department, where he served for 25 years. He owned and operated a boarding stable and continued sh ing horses until his back blew out. He then began driving buses for RTD, which he did part time for over thirty years. In 2004, John married Jerry Foster. In their eight plus years of marriage, they enjoyed dancing, playing cards, attending the dinner theater, and spending time with their families. John was an accomplished horseman, a decent carver, and a laid back storyteller. He enjoyed writing and playing guitar. He always had a project going with his tractor and his Bobcat. John is survived by his wife Jerry; his son Scott (Michele) Booton of Erie and his daughter Stephanie (J ) Pelle of Longmont; his grandchildren Anton (Gina) Booton, Danette (Micah) Miller, Shanna (Nathan) Jessen, and Jeff Pelle; six great-grandchildren; step-children Ronda (Jim) Wilson of Austin, Texas, and Scott Foster of Colorado Springs; step-grandchildren Dallas, Collin, Carlye, Skye, Denise, Cherie, Jonathan and Miranda, and ten step-great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 17th, at the church John attended, Flatirons Community Church, 355 West South Boulder Road, Lafayette, CO 80026.
