

Carl Owen Brady, 86, of Frederick, Colorado, surrounded by family, passed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on August 23, 2024. Carl was born on July 25, 1938, on a farm near Wagoner, Oklahoma to Matthew Frank Brady and Helen Louise (Robinson) Brady.
Carl graduated from Wagoner High School in 1954. He received a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1961 and advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from MIT in 1971. He was elected to Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Tau and Sigma Xi college honorary societies.
Carl was married to Wilma Jean Jameson in 1961 in Norman, Oklahoma. Jean preceded Carl in death in 2003 after over 42 years of marriage. Carl married Jean’s close friend and prayer partner, Merna Lee Johnson Pearson, in 2005.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his six siblings, Helen Louise (Tom) Brady Thompson, Frank Curtis (Marietta) Brady, Betty Jean (Bob) Brady Young, Paul James (Pat) Brady, David Lawrence Brady and Robert Leonard Brady. He is survived by his wife Merna, sisters-in-law, Charlene Brady of Tulsa, OK, Kathy Brady of Choctaw, OK, Barbara Jameson of Duncan, OK and Eunice Johnson (Clay) Scroggs, Rhonda Johnson of Montrose, CO.
Carl is also survived by his daughter Patti (Greg) Schwartz of Blue Springs, MO and her children, Bret and Amanda, his son Kevin of Old Town, FL and his daughter, Kyra, his stepson, Randy (Melisha) Pearson of Springfield, MO and his children, Kaleb, Delanie, Isaak and Spencer, his stepson Gary (Mary) Pearson of Longmont, CO and his children, Addie, Maggie, Annick, Claire and Quentin, his stepdaughter Jodi (Adam) Parker of Mead, CO and her children Payton, Sawyer and Adison, sixteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carl enlisted in the Navy on his seventeenth birthday and served 22 years before retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. He then joined the GE marine and industrial gas turbine business in Evendale, OH. He was later recognized with the 1995 American Society of Naval Engineers Gold Medal award for his part in the sea change to gas turbine naval ship propulsion.
Carl traveled extensively world-wide both with the Navy and GE. He loved his country and was privileged to visit all fifty states while residing in fourteen of them. Carl was also able to make many enjoyable vacation trips with both Jean and Merna. He especially enjoyed rooting for his children and grandchildren and even some great grandchildren in their many athletic activities. Carl enjoyed following the Oklahoma Sooners on TV, reading, doing sudoku and crossword puzzles and writing letters and opinion pieces to the local newspapers.
But Jesus Christ was the chief focal point of Carl’s life after making Him his Lord and Savior in 1976. He served for many years in leadership positions at Tri-County Assembly of God in Fairfield, OH, and even oversaw the building of a Christian television station at one point in his life. He, along with Merna, attended Community Bible Study in Longmont, CO for several years.
He especially enjoyed, along with Jean and Merna, giving back to God in support of many missionaries and other ministries as God had blessed him. Carl was a member of Rocky Mountain Christian Church in Frederick, CO.
Burial will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Convoy of Hope, Operation Blessing, Samaritan’s Purse or another Christian ministry of your choice.
