

Cathirine C. Pierce, 91, of Mead passed away January 1, 2017 at Longmont United Hospital.She was born December 25, 1925 to Fred and Julia (Acord) Callender on the family farm east of Longmont. Cathirine graduated from Johnstown High School.On November 14, 1946 she married James M. ˜Jack' Pierce in Frederick, CO. They moved to the Western slope for a short time, and then returned to the Front Range and made their home near Mead, CO. Here they shared the life of farming; Cathirine was always helping Jack with the chores. She also spent 20 years from the early 1970's to the early 1990's working as the lead cook and manager of the kitchen at Mead Junior High School.Cathirine was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Mead. She was an active part of her community, volunteering for many events including Mead Community days and serving as an Election judge. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Cathirine was big on family from being a 4-H leader for her children to spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack in 1989, daughter Susan in 2013 and three brothers Art, Harry and Melvin Callender.Cathirine is survived by 4 children Jim Pierce (Donna), Mary Pierce McCrary, Doug Pierce (Cindy) and Maureen Pierce Stuvel (Kevin), ten grandchildren Eric, Matthew, Michelle, Cory, Stephanie, Jackque, Patrick, Chelsea, Michael and Travis, and eighteen great grandchildren.Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00pm, with Rosary Prayers at 6:00pm, on Thursday January 5, 2017 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00am Friday, January 6, 2017 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, Longmont. Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
